Unveiling Bollywood's Dirty Secret: How 10 Pakistani Songs Were Tragically Destroyed!

Bollywood has a long history of remaking hit Pakistani songs, and it seems like the trend continues to this day. The latest addition to this list is the song ‘Pasoori,’ which has been remade for Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha.’ Since the release of this song, there has been a lot of buzz on social media. However, this is not the first time Bollywood has recreated popular Pakistani songs. Let’s take a look at some of these songs:

1. “Munni Badnaam Hui” from the film ‘Dabangg’ (2010)

The song “Munni Badnaam Hui” from Salman Khan’s blockbuster film ‘Dabangg’ became an instant hit. Little did people know that it bears a striking resemblance to the Pakistani song “Larka Badnaam Hua Tere Liye” from the 1992 film ‘Mr. Charlie.’

2. “Ghungroo Song” from the film ‘War’ (2019)

The film ‘War’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff had a chartbuster song called “Ghungroo.” Surprisingly, this song is a remake of a Pakistani song from the 1969 film ‘Mala.’

3. “Main Na Jhooth Boloon” from the film ‘Indrajeet’ (1991)

The song “Main Na Jhooth Boloon” from Amitabh Bachchan’s film ‘Indrajeet’ may not be well-known to many, but its background beat might sound familiar. In reality, the beat was taken from a composition made in the 1980s and was often used in political campaigns and rallies.

4. “Dil Dil Hindustan” from the film ‘Yaraana’ (1995)

The film ‘Yaraana’ featured a patriotic song titled “Dil Dil Hindustan,” which would evoke a sense of patriotism in the listeners. However, it is a copy of the popular Pakistani song “Dil Dil Pakistan” by Vital Signs, released in 1987.

5. “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya” from the film ‘Yaraana’ (1995)

One cannot forget the captivating dance performances by Madhuri Dixit, and one of her famous songs was “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya O Ram Ji” from the film ‘Yaraana.’ Shockingly, this song is not an original creation but a copy of the qawwali “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya” sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan two years before the film’s release.

6. तू चीज बड़ी है मस्त (मोहरा )

तू चीज बड़ी है मस्त is a popular song from the 1994 Bollywood film “Mohra.” The song features the electrifying chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon, which set the screen on fire. However, this song was inspired by a Sufi song called “Dam Mast Qalandar Mast Mast,” sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in collaboration with Abida Parveen, Sabri Brothers, Reshma, and Madan Noor Jehan. In this article, we will explore several other Bollywood songs that have been inspired by Pakistani songs.

7. हम भूल गए रे हर बात (सौतन की बेटी)

In the year 1989, the film “Sautan Ki Beti” was released, starring Jeetendra, Jayaprada, and Rekha. The song “Hum Bhool Gaye Re Har Baat” was picturized on Rekha and was sung by the melodious voice of Lata Mangeshkar. However, not many people are aware that this song was borrowed, along with its lyrics, from a Pakistani film called “Saheli,” which was released in 1960.

8. लंबी जुदाई (जन्नत)

The song “Lambi Judai” from the 2008 film “Jannat” gained immense popularity. This song was inspired by a folk song called “Lambi Judai” sung by Pakistani singer Reshma.

9. आहूं आहूं (लव आज कल)

The song “Aahun Aahun” from the 2009 film “Love Aaj Kal” starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone is quite well-known. However, the line “Kadi Te Hans Bol” in the song was borrowed from a Pakistani singer named Shaukat Ali’s song.

10. बहुत प्यार करते हैं तुमको सनम (साजन)

The 1991 romantic film “Saajan,” featuring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit, was highly acclaimed. The song “Bahut Pyar Karte Hain Tumko Sanam” from this film became immensely popular. However, this song was not an original composition but was inspired by the Pakistani film “Abhosh,” in which Mehdi Hassan sang “Bahut Khubsurat Hai Mera Sanam.”

11. अगर तुम मिल जाओ (जहर)

The song “Agar Tum Mil Jao” from the 2005 film “Zeher” is still remembered by many. This song bears resemblance to the original song by Pakistani singer Tassawar Khanum, which was released in 1974.
